So with the summer meetings over and things are picking up again. WIth one of the many events, KUSA held a bake sale fundraiser for LiNK. LiNK stands for Liberty in North Korea which tries to educate people about the human rights problems in North Korea. Its a good cause to fight for.

Lots of good foood!

Anyhow, I’ll pretend that I’ll was writing this blog as if I just came for it.

It was a warm beautiful evening. The sun was settting, the sky was a perfect orange, and summer A semester was about to end soon. It was a Friday… the 13th… and for one… it was a good Friday the 13th… for VSO was hosting a Skating Social!

The social turned out to be success! Everyone had a good time and best of all, it was free! You can’t beat that! =D For a Friday the 13th day, it was a good day… A good day to skate, a good day to have fun, and a good day to hang out with great friends from not just VSO but from other organizations that came and showed support!

Although the Skate social was the last Summer A semester event, it was the end of a new beginning and of what summer B was to bring.

AASU Summer A Paintballing

•June 26, 2008 • Leave a Comment

So to end the series of AASU summer A events, the last event for the term was paintballing!
Some people got hit, some people scored, some people rushed, some people didn’t shoot, some people had jammed guns, some people screamed like little girls, and some people got shot by their own team mate.
It was epic…

Someone is cheating by adding aim bot…

If you get shot… feel free to scream like a little girl

Yoonnie’s “I’m going to shoot you” look

Glad they were on my team, lol.

Tony Law… human target

Yoonnie’s “I’m going to shoot the photographer” look

Can we shoot them yet!?!?

Bandana Team= 1337 Team (fyi, my team)

Non-Bandana Team = Not 1337 Team =P

Ready to go and shoot!
This was a very good turnout. People came out and had fun shooting people, lol. Or getting shot at. Ether way, it was great. Unfortunally, it was the last AASU Summer A event. However, no fear! There will be plenty of events coming in summer B term and not just by AASU, but from CASA, FSA, KUSA, VSO, and others! Things are going to just get better and better. Believe it!

CASA Summer A Tubing 2008

•June 10, 2008 • Leave a Comment

When the day gets hot enough to cook ramen noodles in the sun, its a day to go tubing!
So thats what the folks of CASA and the Kun-Fu Club decided to do. We headed out to Ichetucknee Springs State Park for a nice relaxing day to go tubing.

Getting ready for some fun! Note how everyone stays in the shade. It was hot.

Out to the springs we go and go we did.

Tube-O-Wrestling!!!

Phillip: Tube-O-Wrestling!
Ray: Yea!! …Not!

Ray: So… why are we still standing in the middle of the parking lot still?
Phillip: Tube-O-Wrestling!

Phillip: Tube-O-Wrestling!!
Everyone:…

CASA!

Pushing Sam into the wall. ^^;

Phillip: AHHHHH! Dragonfly!!!

Some good R&R

Not to forget the fun of flipping over friends.

From that point, my camera decided shut itself off… I got it a bit too wet… :3
Not biggie, its not the first time I got my camera wet to where it wouldn’t work for the rest of the day. It now works as good as new so no need to worry.

So after a good two hours of tubing, it was time to go home and eat. CASA decided to have a good early dinner or late lunch at Moe’s which was good. We talked, made fun of each other, and fed the bottomless pit called Chi-Fai with cookies. Things turned out great. I look forward to going to future CASA events.

•June 8, 2008 • 2 Comments

Summer is a great time to study calculus and physics with calculus! Ok… maybe not for everyone but one thing that is fun for everyone is rock climbing!
So that is what AASU decided to have as their second Summer A event. So to the Gainesville Rock Gym we went and went we did.

Loc: I think I am going to really like rock climbing…

Guide: Ok, now that we’re done, untie the knot
Tony: Dang it, just after it took me 10 minutes to figure how to tie it

Taran: How do I tie this again!?!

Jihae: How the heck am I to climb all the way up there!? ><;

Yoonnie: I wana rock climb! :3

Tony: Hello…? I’m busy right now!

Taran: I can do this with my eyes closed!

Taran: Hey Tony! Whats up?
Tony: I’m busy at the moment!

Good to rock climb with good friends… who you can trust to make sure you don’t fall to your death. :)

How did I trust Taran as my partner in rock climbing…?

Yes… I am crazy with my camera. Taking pictures as I rock climb. xD

Climbing the wall of death in hopes of a lifetime of free lunches

Why did I rock climb in jeans? A question I still haven’t answered. @_@

Cave Climbing

T for Taran!

Reaching the breaking point

Calling it a good day after a few hours of rock climbing. ^_^

Rock Climbing was a good turn out. Got to become better friends with people through rock climbing.

I had fun, people had fun, everyone had fun! Can’t wait till the next AASU Summer A event they throw!

•June 5, 2008 • 1 Comment

So summer days have arrived! Time to enjoy summer by having fun, partying, and most of all… Bowling! So to start off the summer frenzy, AASU hosted a bowling night at the Reitz Union Game Room. It was a big turnout and everyone had a great time. Glad to see all the sub-orgs coming out together and having an awesome time.

Loc: Can I bowl yet!? Can I bowl yet!? Can I can I!?!?
Kevin: stfu! still trying to spell my name! K… E… V… wtf is the ‘i’!?! this is not qwer keyboard!!

Striking that bowling pose

The “Did I get it!?” looks

Between the legs technique!

“I choose you! Go Bowling Ball!”

David: Dang it! I missed!

David: Chi-fai, how do you do it?
Chi-fai: You must feel the ball, be one with the ball, and molest the ball.

Good to bowl with great friends!

Did I mention it was an “Asian Invasion”?

The Monkey

The Tiger

The Blackwidow

Then of course, we had our pool sharks showing off their poolmazing skillz.

Then of course, the party was over. As I’ve said, the event turned out great. It was a sign of great and more fun things to come.

VSO Formal

•April 29, 2008 • Leave a Comment

So its the time of year when all good things must come to an end… Saying good byes to graduating seniors, the retiring of officers, and the new fresh faces that will be the next common face.

On April 12th, 2008, VSO had its formal at Merlion.

Its a time where girls get to dress up and the guys have to dress up.

Of course, being a formal, means you gotta have a date!

But it doesn’t necessary mean the guys asking the girls out…

Or you can just go with groups of friends

After everyone got in their seats, it was the time everyone been waiting for… FOOD!

Buffet style! =D

Then we listened to the winners of the superlatives and inducted the new officers.

Then came the most exciting part of the formal, the dance!

Although, all great things must come to an end. It was fun. I enjoyed my first VSO formal and look forward to next year’s.

If you didn’t get a chance to come to this year’s formal, theres next year!

CASA St. Augustine Beach Trip

•April 3, 2008 • 1 Comment

Lisa:  Alan!  Come over here!  Chi-fai’s asleep!

Bowie:  I  feel like beating up Mike!  :D

Julia:  Let’s all beat up Mike!  :D

Everyone:  Yay!  :D

O’ the beach.  Sun, sand, sea and fresh air.  On Saturday,  March 29th, CASA came to St. Augustine in pursuit of such things…And that’s what they got! ^^

CASA traveled to St. Augustine that day with the intent of having a damn fantastic time at the beach,  and that they did.  I find the greatest thing about the beach is the amount of stuff you can do there.  You can read, play sports, do Tai-Chi, take stupid looking pictures, have someone holding a large light diffuser over people while you take pictures of them…but it’s so much more awesome at the beach.  :D

Mike:  Long, are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Long:  Protect yourself from Bowie?  No, I was thinking of running and leaving you here to die.  XD

I find the people having the most fun at the beach is probably all the people playing outdoor sports like football and frisbee.

Enrique:  WHY?!?!?

Seeing as how a large majority of the Members that came were part of out Intramural Sports teams, there really was no shortage of football players.

Bruce:  Awesome, this isn’t intramural.  We can tackle!  WOO!

Just as popular as football is skimboarding!  :D   Christopher Liu brought his skimboard that day for himself and anyone who wanted to give it a try.  As people soon found out, it’s a little bit more difficult than they thought, but fun nonetheless!  :D

Tuan:  Alright Jason, the purpose of skimboard is to crash into people walking on the be-  OMG!  there’s 3 people walking together!  GO GO GO! 50 points!

Tuan:  HA HA!  Stupid water!  You can’t catch m-… I don’t think I thought this out well enough…

There was even people dancing and doing Tai-Chi!   :D

Samantha:  My boyfriend is so cool!^^

Bowie:  So, we can totally part the sea if we practice this enough right?

But you don’t have to come to the beach to play sports, dance, or perform martial arts.  If you’re like me and a few others, you came to relax and take a break…or take pictures of people taking pictures or taking pictures of people while your good friend chases them with a large light diffuser!  XD

Chris:  DRAW! >:D

Chris:  Smile!  :D

Andrew:  Heh heh.  I just ate a can of beans.

And of course, above all, it’s about spending time with your best friends, your fellow members, and loved-ones.^^  <3

*like a Korean drama*

Raymond:  Enrique, you’re REALLY close to me.  Like, UNCOMFORTABLY close to me.

As awesome as the beach was, we couldn’t stay forever.  But that doesn’t mean the trip was over!  A few of us headed to the historic district for a a little bit of sight-seeing and a quick meal before we all headed home.

After the quick fix of gelato and paninis from a small restaurant at the historic district, the remaining members still with us were too tired unfortunately.  Who wouldn’t be after a long day of having fun at the beach?  Afterwards, we began to head home.

Given the success of the trip, the amazing turn-out, and how fun it was, I’m sure it won’t be the last.  If you missed it, we hope to see you next time.  It was a blast.  :D

KUSA Lollicup Social with Rockband

•March 31, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Peter Hong:  Alright, I’m ready, let’s do this!  EXPERT!

*a minute later*

Peter Hong:  Oh god!  D:

KUSA held a social on the evening of Thursday, the 27th of March at Lollicup.^^  Lollicup has been known to be a popular site for many social events and gatherings for several clubs including all the other AASU sub-orgs besides KUSA, but KUSA brought the awesome to another level by providing Rock Band! :D

Thaison:  Red, Green, Red, Bass, Blue, Bas-  DAMNIT!

For anyone who doesn’t know what rock band is, it is a rhythm game similar to guitar hero in that it allows the player to simulate playing a guitar.  Rock band, however is different from guitar hero in that in addition to having two players play guitar, it adds another player to play a drum set and one more player to sing with a microphone.  With a total of 4 possible players, you have an entire band  :D

Claudia:  Pfft, whatever.  I bet I can play all those simultaneously by myself! >=D

What better way is there to past the time than being at a social event with your friends while enjoying Boba and being rock stars?^^

KUSA in Concert!

Emphasis on the part about being a rock star.

Tony Law.  A true rock star.

Tony:  RAWR!  (“”\(‘,..,’)/”")

Look forward to more KUSA events in the following terms to come!^^
